Chik’n Ingredients

  • 1 C Flour (any kind)
  • 1 C Water
  • 1/2 Head Cauliflower Florets
  • 2 C Bread Crumbs

General Tso’s Sauce Ingredients

  • 3 Garlic Cloves Minced
  • 1 Inch Thumb Ginger Minced
  • 1/2 C Hoisin Sauce
  • 1/4 C Rice Vinegar
  • 3 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 4 Tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tsp Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1 Tsp Sriracha


  1. Preheat oven to 450F. Take your flour and water and mix until smooth. The mixture should be about the consistency of pancake batter.
  2. Next dip your cauliflower one by one in the flour batter and tap off the excess. Then dip into bread crumbs until evenly coated. Continue this process until all the cauliflower is covered.
  3. Place all the cauliflower bites on a sheet of parchment paper or non stick baking pan and bake at 450F for 30 minutes.
  4. While the cauliflower is baking we can make the sauce. Prep and measure all of your sauce ingredients and then mix well together in a bowl and set aside.
  5. Take the cauliflower out of the oven and dip them one by one in the General Tso’s sauce and place back on the baking tray. Do this process until all the cauliflower are covered in the sauce. Place back in oven for 15 minutes on 450F.
  6. Serve over rice with vegetables and garnish with sesame seeds and a extra drizzle of sauce on top.

    1. I have Celiac Disease. I substituted the bread crumbs for gluten free panko I found at the market.

  9. Sooo good!!!! I noticed that after I dipped it in the sauce and popped it back in the oven it started to go a bit black after 5 mins at 450 so I turned it down. Is the charring normal?

  12. Just saw this video.. I want to try the Buffalo wings cauliflower recipe..what sauce did you use?? And is it the same process as the general tso’s ???

      1. Thanks.. But i dont have franks buffalo sauce on hand i have louisianna crystal sauce the ingredients is red cayenne peppers vinegar and salt im pretty sure that it falls in the vegan category.. Lol!! Im 4 days into this vegan diet and im loving it! Thanks again have a great evening!!

  13. OH MY, THIS IS THE BEST!!!!! Our new addiction. We tried it on a Friday and repeated it on a Sunday. It is so easy and delicious. I also have used this with non-vegan guests and they preferred it to chicken and it looks beautiful for parties, etc. WE LOVE THIS DISH!!! Thank you for sharing this!! A MUST HAVE RECIPE!!

  14. I don’t have fresh ginger…Will be using powdered…do you think a teaspoon…or 1/2 teaspoon would be about right. I’m really anxious to make this! It looks so good and so easy!!!

  17. I made this recipe yesterday yesterday and it was really easy which I loved. Absolutely loved how crisp these came out in the oven (all the other recipes I have seen call for deep fry ?). The sauce was a bit sweet for my taste, but I don’t usually like sweet food. I also ran out of soy sauce so couldn’t offset it…. So that may have been part of the problem. I just need to adjust more to my taste. Going to heat up and try with some soy sauce splashed on top. I. do want to try this as,e technique as buffalo chick’n bites! Do you have any ideas for buffalo sauce that isn’t full of oil? Usually it’s half butter half hot sauce ….but even half earth balance would he too much fat. Would love to see you make these or if you have any suggestions for a pre-made bottled sauce? Thanks so much for this recipe….I can see this taking on so many different twists.

    1. for sauce we just use frank’s buffalo sauce, it does have some oil in it but if you’re just using a minimal amount, that’s fine 🙂
